Since the late 1990s, the Pokemon franchise of games, books, comics, cartoons, movies and other merchandise brings in $2.1 billion a year in revenue. An integral part of the franchise's success for the past 20 years has been the Pokemon Trading Card Game, which has released 2.1 billion cards all over the world. Since the late '90s starting with the Base Set, the PokEmon TCG has continued printing new sets every year, with 71 expansion sets and counting and over 8,000 different cards.
